Description of Problem:
Due to insufficient retention properties of a driveshaft circlip, the LEFT HAND FRONT driveshaft may become disconnected from the transmission under certain driving conditions such as high speed driving. During high speed driving, the retention force of the clip can reduce; this may lead to a disconnection of the shaft from the transmission. If this occurs, the vehicle will be unable to be driven.
Consequences and Assessment of Risk
There are no known cases in Australia or New Zealand
Rectification:
Replace the LEFT HAND FRONT driveshaft circlip on the vehicle, the driveshaft nut is also to be replaced as per standard procedure.
Vehicle Range:
There are 122 2002 to 2004 YG Cruze automatics in New Zealand. It is possible that there are used imports in New Zealand of other brands eg Chevrolet that may also have this problem. The ISOVIN list of the vehicles affected is attached.

Owners of vehicles affected by this recall campaign, will be contacted directly by letter from Holden by W/E 3 February 2006. The letter provides details of the recall campaign and requests the customer to contact a Holden Dealer to make a service booking to have the appropriate work carried out.
