Description of Problem:
Under some circumstances during fuel filling, the filler pipe may be pushed towards the vehicle body where the hose clamp connecting the pipe into the tank discharges static electricity. The discharge may then come in contact with a mixture of air and fuel vapour causing a brief event known as fuel flash.
Rectification:
We are instructing dealers on a general fix that earths the clamp through the vehicle body, eliminating and charge buildup at the clamp. Some vehicles modified after sale by removing the original equipment wellside will have their fuel filler replaced.
Vehicle Range:
All petrol RA Rodeo light trucks, model years 2003 - 2005 with petrol engines and original equipment fitted wellsides. This recall does NOT inlcude cab chassis models or diesel engines.
Owner Contact:
Owners of vehicles affected by this recall campaign will be contacted directly by letter from Holden New Zealand. The letter provides details of the recall campaign and requests the customer to contact a Holden Dealer to make a service booking to have the appropriate work carried out. Until the recitification work is carried out please fill the vehicle slowly as this reduces the risk of static build up.
