New state-of-the-art Spark Ignition Direct Injection (SIDI) technology promises fuel economy that not only outstrips any V6 in its class, but also beats some 4-cylinder cars.
With impressive fuel economy figures starting at just 9.3L/100km1, it means car buyers can now enjoy the spaciousness, comfort and practicality of a true family-sized car while experiencing fuel bills normally seen on some smaller cars.
Holden's new SIDI engines will come with an all-new smooth six-speed automatic transmission as standard, offering new levels of refinement and performance.
Holden will introduce two all-new SIDI V6 engines, to be manufactured at the company's high-tech engine facility in Port Melbourne, Victoria, Australia.
A 3.0 litre SIDI V6 engine will be standard on Omega and Berlina Commodore sedan and Omega Sportwagon models.
A 3.6 litre SIDI V6 engine will be standard on SV6, Calais and Calais V-Series sedan; SV6 and Calais V-Series Sportwagon as well as SV6 Ute. The 3.6 litre SIDI V6 will also be available on Statesman.
Impressively, SIDI technology delivers incredible fuel economy for a family sized car, whilst dramatically improving engine performance. The 3.0L SIDI V6 sees the power of an Omega and Berlina sedan and Omega Sportwagon increase from 175kW to 190kW. Power for the SV6, Calais, Calais V-Series range increases from 195kW to 210kW with the new 3.6L SIDI engine.
So when it comes to Holden's new SIDI technology, it delivers all the goods, without the compromise in performance.
Official fuel economy figures will see the Omega and Berlina sedan improve 12 per cent to an impressive 9.3L/100km. The Omega Sportwagon also achieves 9.3L/100km, an improvement of 13 per cent. This is not only the best of any V6 in its class, but it places Commodore amongst smaller, 4-cylinder petrol vehicles without compromising on space and comfort.
SIDI means better green scores as well. Omega, Berlina and Calais sedan and Omega Sportwagon, will now achieve an impressive 5.5 Greenhouse Rating and 4 stars in the Australian Federal Government's Green Vehicle Guide. ( greenvehicleguide.gov.au )
With SIDI technology comes an all-new silky smooth 6-speed automatic transmission, delivering new levels of powertrain refinement not seen before in an Australian made car.
Only when the car is driven, with this sweet combination of SIDI engine technology and 6-speed transmission, does the motorist get a true appreciation of why Commodore, Ute, Statesman and Caprice will continue to be considered a truly world class range of vehicles.
Holden's new range of SIDI equipped vehicles will be available in showrooms from late September.
