CRUZE ROCKETS UP JULY SALES LIST
In just its first month of sales the all-new Holden Cruze has shot to New Zealand’s third most popular passenger vehicle.
Sales figures for July released today by the Motor Industry Association showed the Holden Cruze sold 194 vehicles well ahead of other popular models such as the Mazda 3 and Honda Civic.
Holden New Zealand Managing Director Simon Carr said the figures demonstrate the promise of the new model as a genuine contender in the lower medium segment. “We have been delighted with the public response to the Cruze,” Mr Carr said. “It is early days for this car and for it to register such strong sales in its first full month in showrooms is promising for long-term appeal.
“Cruze orders for the coming months remain exceptionally strong and with this kind of demand expected to continue we may see some pressure on supply in the coming months.”
The Cruze first went on sale on 1 July and complements Holden’s Commodore which remains New Zealand’s second most popular passenger vehicle year to date. The recently announced Model Year 10 (MY10) Commodore range, due here late September, is set to slash fuel use with increased fuel efficiency of up to 13% and reduced carbon emissions of up to 14%.
Holden will deliver fuel and CO2 emissions savings through two new engines offering the state-of-the-art technology, Spark Ignition Direct Injection, a first for an Australian-built vehicle.
